A Visit to Springhill House

8th Oct 2023

Last Friday the children in Primary Three had the opportunity to visit Springhill house, which is just outside Moneymore. The children really enjoyed their tour of the house and they asked the guides lots of interesting questions.

Springhill was the home of ten generations of the Lenox-Conyngham family and it was considered to be one of the prettiest houses in Ulster.  It was built at the end of the 17th century for Will Conyngham who was getting married to Ann Upton.

The last of the family to live in Springhill house was a lady called Mina Lowry Lenox Conyngham. Mina was born in 1866 and she lived just outside Cookstown. Mina decided to give Springhill House to the National Trust in 1957.
