Yesterday we had a visit from a local fireman! 👨🚒 This was a very informative talk that taught us not only about the importance of firework safety, but also about how to keep safe in our own homes. 🏠🎇
Some of the things we were taught about include: Smoke alarm- Do you have a smoke alarm? Where is it placed in your house? How often should you test it? You should test your fire alarm every week- 'Test it Tuesday'. It should be placed near a door so you can find an exit if there is smoke.
Plans- Who is in the house? Where is the escape route? When we get out, who do we ring? Do we know our address? Having a plan in place ensures everyone is safe and knows exactly what to do in the event of a fire.
Bedtime Routine- Make sure you have a routine to check the house before you sleep.
The boys and girls asked some brilliant questions too, including, 'how many people are in your team?', 'how many people fit in a fire engine?' and 'what should we do if we are trapped in a room?'
