National World Poetry Day!
Our P6 pupils all participated in an assembly to mark National World Poetry Day. They all did an outstanding job and used amazing expression, pitch, pace and tone. They have been developing their presentation and performance skills.
P6 were rewarded with their favourite treat of tea and biscuits in the afternoon.
Over the past few weeks P6 have been studying poetic devices, writing poems and exploring the topic of Spring using their senses. They have been learning about the life of Ireland’s literary genius, Seamus Heaney and reviewing his work.
They all composed their own Spring poems and entered a competition organised by the Heaney Centre. A variety of these poems were recited at today’s assembly.
As part of our poetry slam competition a number of contestants from other classes performed a range of fun school poetry.
Well done boys and girls! 😁🙌
