Tessellation 🟨🟩🟦

23rd Feb 2023

In Shape and Space, P4 have been investigating Tessellation.
Tessellation is an arrangement of shapes closely fitted together with no overlapping or gaps.
When we think of tessellation we usually think of tiles but there are many other examples of tessellation in our world of nature, toys and architecture.
We found some examples of tessellation in the classroom and  around the school then created our own tessellation patterns after looking at the work of M.C. Escher - a talented artist from the Netherlands.
The children were very engaged during this topic and produced some beautiful work for display. 😀
