RESPECT As we begin our school year, it is important that we set out our standards for respect from the beginning. Simple things like a smile, good eye contact or a “hello” can make a huge difference when forming relationships with new friends and helping others. Small gestures towards others show that you value them and will help to build respect. In the month of September we will be focusing on the Christian value - RESPECT. This is also one of our Key School values. As a whole school community, we will be discussing what RESPECT means and what it should look like within each classroom. We will be looking at: How we show respect for each other and adults in the school community. How children are encouraged to value and respect their own and other people’s belongings. How children are encouraged to show tolerance by accepting feelings, habits or beliefs, racial or ethnic origins that are different from their own. What patience, kindness and good manners should look like in our classroom.   [Open Document] | ☕ Coffee Morning ☕ - Friends Of Mullinahoe - Coffee Morning on Sunday 28th of September from 12.00 - 2.00 pm in the Ardboe Community Centre. Visit to Seamus Heaney HomePlace ✍🏻

24th Nov 2022

The children from P4 had a wonderful opportunity to join Mrs McCann’s class on a visit to the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy today.

During our visit, we explored the Exhibition Centre and heard so much about the life of this award winning local poet. We were able to listen to the voice of Seamus recite many of his well known poems which was amazing and we also saw pictures and artefacts from his life.
After break we enjoyed the ‘Blackberry Picking’ workshop with Brid where we read and explored this wonderful poem.

During the workshop, we also had the opportunity to gather some remaining blackberries, learn about the life cycle of the berry and also try our hand at some blackberry ink writing using a quill. We finished the workshop with a yummy teddy bears picnic of scones and blackberry jam!! 😋

The children really had an enjoyable and memorable day and we were delighted to receive an email this afternoon from the Heaney Centre praising the children on their knowledge of the poet as well as their behaviour and manners throughout the visit.

Well done girls and boys - we are very proud of you all! 👏

We all had a fabulous day! Thank you to Mrs McCann for organising the trip and to Mrs Corr and Shannon for joining us today. 😀
