Week 1 - Award Winners

9th Sep 2022

Well done to our award winners from week 1.

In St Patrick's we want to focus on what students are getting right; highlighting the good. We believe that encouragement and praise is central to the promotion of high standards of behaviour; rewards are an integral means of achieving this. We believe that rewarding students makes them feel valued, builds confidence and motivates them to achieve.

We recognise the importance of recognition, praising and rewarding our pupils in a way that is meaningful. We seek to use methods that students are motivated by and that inspire the students to achieve.

We have had a great start to the new school year from all our pupils. They have settled quickly and are working well in their new classrooms. All the teachers found it very difficult to pick two pupils from their classrooms as they could have added others to the list.

It was great to see so many pupils rewarded for their behaviour and the way they support and help others. I also found it difficult to pick out my first Principal Award as many pupils had been mentioned by teachers, classroom assistants and supervisors. I always look forward to reading the pupil certificates on a Friday to see the different reason the pupils are being rewarded each week.

In addition, rewarding good work, behaviour, attitude, self-discipline and responsibility to self and others etc. highlights to all our pupils the important features we see as desirable in our school and in the wider community, and want to see in everyone.

I look forward to next week and having the opportunity to reward another 18 boys and girls who are going the extra mile in school trying to be the best they can be.
