World Book Day was set up to encourage children to develop a love of books and promote reading for pleasure, not just for one day but every day of the year. On the World Book Day website, they state "Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can makes a crucial difference to their future success and it’s fun for all involved.”

In St Patrick’s Mullinahoe as part of our World Book Day Activities for 2023 we are promoting a full week of reading called ‘Battle Of The Books.’  All our classes will be divided into 4 groups who will compete against each other to see who can reach the most points. Points will be awarded through our Accelerated Reader Quizzes for P3-P7 and by the teachers and classroom assistants in Foundation Stage for their various reading activities.

Our four groups for our battle of the books are; The Arrows. The Brains, The Climbers, and the Discoverers. Ask your child which group they are in.
