World Down Syndrome Day 2024
Every year on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day is observed across the globe. The day is designated to promote awareness about Down syndrome. This date is significant because people with Down syndrome have three copies of the 21st chromosome.
It is designed to be fun and lighthearted day that encourages people to embrace their individuality and celebrate difference. Schools children all over the world take part by wearing brightly coloured, mismatched socks as a symbol of uniqueness and to promote acceptance of diversity.
Odd Socks Day is also a great opportunity for schools to raise awareness about other important social issues, including bullying and prejudice.
