RESPECT As we begin our school year, it is important that we set out our standards for respect from the beginning. Simple things like a smile, good eye contact or a “hello” can make a huge difference when forming relationships with new friends and helping others. Small gestures towards others show that you value them and will help to build respect. In the month of September we will be focusing on the Christian value - RESPECT. This is also one of our Key School values. As a whole school community, we will be discussing what RESPECT means and what it should look like within each classroom. We will be looking at: How we show respect for each other and adults in the school community. How children are encouraged to value and respect their own and other people’s belongings. How children are encouraged to show tolerance by accepting feelings, habits or beliefs, racial or ethnic origins that are different from their own. What patience, kindness and good manners should look like in our classroom.   [Open Document] | β˜• Coffee Morning β˜• - Friends Of Mullinahoe - Coffee Morning on Sunday 28th of September from 12.00 - 2.00 pm in the Ardboe Community Centre. World Poetry Day @ Seamus Heaney Homeplace

24th Mar 2023

Primary 5/6 along with Primary 6 were very priviledged to have Breige from the Seamus Heaney Homeplace visit us in school in February. We learned about Seamus' connections with Ardboe and discussed the poem 'Arion' which he translated from the Russian Alexander Pushkin.

We then began our project on Lough Neagh 🚀 where we researched information on the lough and our locality for inspiration to create our very own poems. Our children enjoyed learning facts from their grandparents and singing sea shantys πŸŽΆβ›΅οΈπŸŒŠ together in class.

On World Poetry Day we visited  the Seamus Heaney Homeplace and discovered lots of information on Seamus' life and poetry.  Some of the children had the chance to recite their very own poems. They were very excited to have this great opportunity. Thank you to Breige and all the staff at the Seamus Heaney Homeplace for a wonderful school trip!
